Davidovsky’s workshops prompt invention and creativity, inspire and allow one to discover new ways of self expression.

Daniel Davidovsky’s series of workshops encourage experimentation and playfulness. As such, they are designed for a wide target audience, ranging from young students to artists, educators and therapists. With a strong emphasis on accessibility, the workshops are based upon the use of “domestic” objects and affordable resources. Davidovsky’s workshops prompt for invention and creativity, inspire, and allow discovery of new ways of self expression.

During the workshop, the participants work in personal work-stations with the objects they bring from home. A list of suggested domestic objects is supplied in advance. The participants are also requested to bring their own headphones. Mics and pick-ups are mostly supplied by Daniel.
The workshops are given either in English, Spanish or Hebrew.

“The Bike Ensemble”

2016-07-09-PHOTO-00003489
The Bike Ensemble is more of an artistic and social project than a workshop. Participants bring their own bicycles which are implemented to be sound instruments. The first part of the session is the workshop itself, where the attendants investigate the sound qualities of the bicycle being amplified by a contact microphone and by using different sorts of objects and techniques in order to produce a wide variety of sounds.
Daniel provides short compositions for a bicycle ensemble and motivates the players to contribute new musical ideas, thus generating new compositions.
The participants, with Daniel’s conduction, create a Bike Ensemble concert to be performed in a public performance.
The project is open to musicians and non-musicians alike, and is limited to a maximum of 15 attendants. Participants are required to bring their own bicycles and additional objects to be used in the development of playing techniques. A list of suggested objects is supplied in advance.

Duration: Aprox. 8 hours in its basic format (installation, workshop, rehearsal and performance) and can be split across a maximum of three meetings (depending upon the characteristics of the group and the available facilities).
Target audience: All from 10 to 99 y.o
Technical needs: Work space with large tables and chairs, PA sound system and 24 channel mixer + audio cables.
Number of participants: up to 15 max.
